Modules » Manufacturing » Works Orders

Works Orders are used to load requirements onto the shop floor. Each works order has a unique id and can be ‘late configured’ to take account of changing material availability.

Late Configuration

When a works order is raised the product structure (BOM) for the item is pulled in from the stock system. This can be amended on an order by order basis to allow for customisations or material shortages.

Shop Floor Paperwork

Each works order has package of shop floor paperwork associated with it – this allows for build instructions, record sheets, quality documents and the like to be printed by operators.

Planning Production

Each works order has a status as follows:

  • New – the order is raised and appears in the demand profile but is not loaded onto the shop floor
  • Released – paperwork can be printed and work started
  • Open – materials have been issued
  • Complete – all done!
